This was a sketch that turned into a full blown piece. Done in graphite pencil with a little touching up in photoshop. My idea was to have an warrior angel, settling down on the mountainside, momentarily resting, gathering up his strength and about to take off to continue waging the ever-raging spiritual war. He has the grit of grim determination on his face and the sword-ready hand of a warrior.
Tried to work out good composition in this piece, fill in the white space and get some good darks around the piece to draw the eye around. I’m not the greatest at backgrounds, but I think I pulled this one off decently. Still wish I could have worked in some more dramatic darks. I like how the anatomy worked out, but I the head could use a little more work. The spoutings of a perfectionist, :). Overall I’m satisfied with how the piece came out.

Just wanted to say this is a fantastic serires. well done. I am using this as inspiration for an army banner for 40k - hope that’s alright, it’s not a reproduction but i love the composition and scale of the wings to the body!
I love the demon vs angel pics. I’d like to see one with the angels back toward the viewer and the demon flying towards us. Kind of like the angel is fighting its way out of evil.
