The Comic Collection

So everyone knows that I'm a massive comic book geek. I started when was small and it took off from there. I'm a fan of DC and Marvel, and some other not-so-popular indie books. Looking through the pieces I've done you can easily see who my favorites are -- Batman, Spiderman, Superman, Hulk, Wolverine, etc. I'm definitely more of a Marvel guy than a DC guy, but I love both.

All these pieces I have drawn, inked, and/or colored myself. I'm by no means a professional, I just love the genre. I'm trying to hone my skills though to become a better comic artists. Please feel free to leave comments about tips on how to improve or pieces you like!

The Webslinger Well I wanted to do a kick-butt spiderman picture to turn into Sony so that it might get posted in the fan-art section. So I drew this kick butt pic of Spidey swinging right off the page at you - but I realized, wait, there has to be a background...so I tried doing this extreme perspective shot...and totally failed lol.

But I really wanted to try coloring Spidey on the computer, so I whipped up a shot of him swinging through the air, inked it, scanned it, imported and fooled around with photoshop for a bit. There has never been another time where I wanted a Wacom more, lol. But I used the same technique for coloring that I used for Hulk-like Proportions.

Overall I'm satisfied…

Deadpool Here's a sketch I did with deadpool. It's a little older (from my copying-other-real-comic-artists'-stuff phase). I inked it and it turned out all right!

Batman Did a quick sketch of batman during my database and mathematical modelling class - figured I haven't uploaded anything in a while, so might as well upload this! I quickly colored it (no shading or anything) just to make it interesting. Threw some fog in there too. This isn't the piece I've been working on (that is taking such a long time) but just a quick random batman fan art. =D.

The Spider Crouched Well, I was doodling this in class and though it'd look good with some color. =).

Spiderman Webslinging Here's another spiderman - gonna try to do a sweet flying side-ways perspective shot for the city in the background.

=D

Berserker Rage Building Quick sketch over Wolverine (touched up a bit in photoshop), with his patented bersker rage starting to build before your very eyes. SNIKT!

The Fantastic Four In honor of the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer movie coming up, here's a little piece of fan art. I've never actually drawn the FF4 before and I figured it was about time. ;). Special thanks to :iconwindriderx23: for pushing me to ink this, :). I like the more polished look it has - plus it make…

Venom Venom!!! I was doing a quick sketch of the Hulk, and I was looking at it and was like "this doesn't look like hulk....but it sure could be venom!" Don't think I've ever drawn him before. It was a lot of fun because he's so ridiculous - his proportions are so off and he has the huge mouth/tongue...great stuff. Gotta love Venom!!!

*Can't wait for the movie!!!*

Wonder Woman Wonder woman WIP. Took a break from commissions to doodle, :). . Gonna color this with my tablet soon!

Note: didn't finish the bottom, so I faded it out with Photoshop. Otherwise, the rest is original.

Wonder Woman copyright DC Comics

Fantastic Four Colored *sigh of relief* The picture is finally complete!!! I have finished it! Couldn't find anyone willing to color [link] so I colored it myself! This is my second piece using my Wacom graphics tablet. I must say, there is a great improvement over the last one ( [link] ).

I spent a lot of time on this, really just being patient and paying attention to detail. Each character had at least 3 layers - a layer of flat color, shadows, and highlights. Plus effects…

Venom Colored Venom!! In honor of Spiderman 3 (which rocked!) here's some Venom for all you Venom-lovers out there. Venom was one of my big beefs with the movie. I say ditch Sandman and keep Venom.

Anyway, I colored this quickly, so its not perhaps my most detailed piece, but hopefully it'll rock someone's socks. ;).

Venom property of Marvel

X-Men Archangel So here's my submission to :iconwindriderx23: X-Men Art Jam. The good ol' Warren Worthington III. Went with the old school classic suit. A little hard to tell, but it'd make more sense if you saw it colored.

Unfortunately I didn't have time to color it...I'll get around to that eventually. And of course, out of all the characters to pick, I picked the angel-looking one. Sometimes I think I might be in a rut, drawing a lot of the same things (i.e. angels) all the time. But hey.…

X-Men Archangel Colored Went for simple color scheme this time and enhanced it with sky and blur effects. Not to incredible, but I think it gets the job done. :).

Poison Ivy So I saw this shot by by *sim4nee and I knew I just had to draw that pose.
[link]

Strong, sassy, and sexy at the same time. Which is what Poison Ivy is. Wanted to try to draw a beautiful woman (as my usual watchers know, that is not my strong point) and have her actually look good. My last Wonder Woman was supposed to accomplish that...but didn't work out so well :(.

Anyway, I'm really satisfied with this one! Perhaps my best female-figure…

Not a Bird, Not a Plane Been sketching a lot to warm up for some angel pieces that are in the works. Here's one of the latest. I hadn't colored anything in Photoshop lately and thought I'd give it a try. :)

My usual Photoshop style of coloring just wasn't working out so well. I kind of hit the ceiling as far as creativity was concerned. I found a tutorial on dA though here that was phenomenal. Think I may color my future pieces like this...

Note:Had a reference for the pose from a book and the clouds are from stockexchange
